Albertas Boreal Forest vs oil sands

This Sunday protestors will gather linked hand in hand to encircle the white
house in protest to the pipeline that will extend from Canada to Texas.
I was curious to its makings, so i dug a bit. Like most findings when you dig,
the results are ugly.
Most people are not aware the U.S. recieves most of its oil from Canada. It is
the 3rd largest reserve in the world. There are already numerous pipelines
that spider the upper region of the U.S. The pipelines origin: Albertas.
I started reading the pros and cons to the new Texas extension.
PROS: Hundred of thousands of jobs created.
Local friendly source of supply, vs saudi arabia.
CONS: Environmental catastrophe. Albertas forest is 35 million acres of life.
5 major rivers feed the arctic ocean. It supports a vast wet land and a forest
of spruce, aspen and pine .It is home to many species, including the
endangered whooping crane, and the endangered caribou. The caribou has
declined 50% over the last 10 years, all due to the construction of the TAR
SANDS.
Tar Sands area is 149,000 kilometers ( size of England) of the dirtiest
methods of oiling known.
This area in Canada has already left a huge scar in the northern region. It
houses toxic pools which are visible from space and are slowly leaking into
the arctic.
Over the last 12 years, 25 million has been spent on positive PR for this
campaign. Each day it emits green house gas that is equal to 1.34 million
cars. The Alberta government has admitted, every day 2.5 millions barrels of
fresh water is rendered useless to produce the world dirtiest oil.
